Our claims process couldn’t be simpler. If you’ve just been involved in a collision, whether you were at fault or not, or your bike has been stolen or vandalised, you’ll need to contact us as soon as possible. Always try to get in touch within 24 hours of any incident, while the details are still fresh in your mind, to avoid any discrepancies later on. You can find more information and advice on the ‘had an accident’ page.
You should report all accidents, thefts, attempted thefts and any incidents of vandalism or malicious damage. Even if you’re not going to make a claim, it is important that you call us to ensure that we can deal with any possible claim from another motorist. We’ll update your policy to reflect any conversations we may have, just in case you’re stung with a claim at a later date.
Failure to notify us of any incident, no matter how big or small, even if it wasn’t your fault, could delay the process or settlement of any outstanding claim.
If you find yourself in one of the above situations and have to make a claim, there are a few things you’ll need to know. When you first call our dedicated claims support team, you’ll be asked a number of questions about your policy and the incident. It is vital that you answer these questions as accurately as possible in order to make sure that your claim runs as smoothly as possible.
There’s lots of things you can do at the scene of the incident to help make the claims process run smoothly. In the case of an accident, make a note of the registrations of any other vehicles involved and write down the names, contacts and insurance details of any other motorists, passengers and witnesses. You should also take note of any other important information such as location, street names, road conditions, date and time of day.
If your motorcycle has been vandalised, you could take a photo on your mobile phone to help us to piece the events of the incident together more accurately – making the claims process even easier.
If the police were called to the incident, make sure you request a crime/accident report and reference number and if you were injured, we’ll need a medical report from your hospital or doctor. Both of these documents will be vital when we assess your eligibility for a claim.
Call us now on 0330 018 9166 and we’ll be happy to help.
Why should you be penalised for an accident that wasn’t your fault? If you are an existing Bennetts policyholder, your no claims discount will only be affected until we’re successful in recovering your motorcycle’s repair costs from the other party’s insurer. Your no claims discount will be reinstated if the claim is successful.
However, if you have protected your no claims discount, you won’t be affected at all for the first two claims in any three-year period of cover. Just make sure you have your proof of no claims handy when you call us.
Accidents and thefts can happen at any time. So, you’ll want to know that you can talk to us if the unexpected happens. Our dedicated UK-based claims team are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week – even on Sundays and Bank Holidays!
