Energica Eva Ribelle unveiled for 2020 with huge battery performance increase

The Italian firm well-known for its manufacture of electric production motorcycles as well as the infamously flammable MotoE race machines, Energica, has announced a brand new model for 2020 in the Eva Ribelle, as well as a new battery pack “with the biggest capacity and power ever installed on a production electric motorcycle”, and upgrades to the existing models.

Courtesy of the Modena-based company’s involvement in Grand Prix racing, the technological advancement and innovation has made its way to the road models with the new Lithium-polymer battery of 21.5 kWh replacing the 13.4 kWh version promising more torque, less weight and a vastly improved range; the holy grail of EV.

The 2020 Energica models with the new battery pack are Ego+, Eva Ribelle and Eva EsseEsse9+ with a 5% lighter weight and 60% increase in riding range; 249miles (city), 143 miles (mixed, 112 miles (motorway).

The Eva Ribelle is the new electric streetfighter powered by the new 21.5 kWh battery pack where as the other two models are available in two versions depending on battery pack.

Energica’s latest machine delivers 107kW (143.5bhp) at 6000rpm and is limited to 125mph, although offers a massive 215Nm (158 lb-ft) torque. To put that into context versus an internal combustion engine, the Ducati Panigale V4 offers 124Nm torque. It comes in two colours; Stealth Grey and Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) and, like every Energica bike, can be recharged using a DC fast-charging station with 249 miles of city range achieved in one hour.

Its suite of electronics contains a sophisticated cruise control system that uses the electronic brake to maintain speed and increase braking energy. A six-level traction control system accompanies the four riding modes and four regenerative maps while a parking assist helps manoeuvre the 270kg bike.

Top spec components come with names like Pirelli, Marzocchi, Bitubo, Brembo and Bosch who provide the Diablo Rosso III tyres, adjustable forks, mono shock, double 330mm floating discs and switchable ABS respectively. A set height of 790mm and a warranty of 3 years on the bike with 31,000 on the battery complete the specification basics.

Other model updates include two new colours for the sporty Ego, with Rosso Red and Asteroid Grey while the Ego Sport Black model is a version inspired by the livery of the Ego Corsa – the official bike of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, the occasional MotoGP support series.

The more classic looking Eva EsseEsse9 also has a new colour for 2020 in Modena Yellow to join the two existing colours.
