The annual updates of the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, RSV4 RR, Tuono V4 1100 RR, Tuono V4 Factory have been announced, with semi-active suspension, new graphics and further carbon-fibre parts…
Following two years of development with Öhlins, Aprilia has added semi-active suspension to the RSV4R 1100 Factory.
The suspension settings can be used in semi-active mode or manual, with control via bar-mounted buttons and three maps – A1, A2 and A3 for slicks, standard tyres on road and track, and road use respectively. Each map can also be fine-tuned, while the Öhlins steering damper is also electronically controlled.
The Brembo Stylema front calipers can now be accessorised with a pair of race-style carbon-fibre air ducts, and with the standard Akrapovič titanium end-can and lithium battery, the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory weighs just 199kg with a full tank of fuel.
Making a claimed 214bhp @ 13,200rpm and 90lb-ft (122Nm) @ 11,000rpm, the RSV4 takes full advantage of the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control); the Bosch six-axis IMU-based electronics package that includes cornering ABS, wheelie control, launch control, up and down quick-shifter, pit limiter and cruise control.
The colour TFT includes connectivity to your smartphone for notifications and music control, and the ability to download ride data to a laptop or for viewing on your phone.
We might sound a little non-plussed at the latest updates for the RSV4 RR, but the 198bhp (@ 13,000rpm) 1000cc 65° V4 motor in the RR is already awesome. The frame is based on that of the 250 GP machines that have won 18 titles and 143 Grand Prix races and it’s got a complete suite of electronic rider aids, including cornering ABS. Oh, and it makes 85lb-ft of torque (115Nm) @ 10,500rpm.
There are no technical changes for 2020, so all we see are two new colours – Rivazza grey and Arrabbiata black, with red wheels.
Like the RSV4, the Tuono Factory gains semi-active suspension, with settings based on Track, Sport and Road, and includes the APRC electronics package, but with the engine making ‘only’ 173bhp. It comes in a new Atomico Racer colour scheme.
With two new colous – Sachsenring red and Magny-Cours grey, the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR has a 190/55 rear with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres, compared to the Diablo Supercorsas with 200 section rear on the Tuono Factory. It also doesn’t include the semi-active suspension, instead carrying the Sachs 43mm fully-adjustable forks.
